From Egypt to College Squash
Youssef Bastawy is an Egyptian squash player from Alexandria who competes for Drexel University. Developed through Wadi Degla Club and Egypt's competitive junior system, he reached a career-high national junior ranking of No. 2 and earned major results at the Madinaty Junior Open, US Junior Open, and British Junior Open.
At Drexel, he made an immediate impact with a 14–4 freshman record and was named the Men's Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Rookie of the Year. Youssef Bastawy is the second player in program history to receive the award. He followed that season by earning First Team All-MASC recognition as a sophomore.
The Egypt native helped the Dragons to their first Holley Cup Championship. He was undefeated going 3-0 against Navy, MIT, and Virginia in the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships.
